This is the model used by Gentry Stein at the 2019 World Yo-Yo Contest in Cleveland .

Snagging the 1A championship at the 2014 World Yo-Yo Contest, Gentry Stein's first metal signature model soon followed, the Shutter. The Wide Angle version has a larger catch zone, making it even easier than before to hit the string during difficult acrobatic combos. Gentry used this exact model at Worlds in Cleveland, and snagged 1st place with his impressive performance.

The profile is noticeably wider than the original Shutter. It's only a difference of 4mm, but in the yo-yo world, that 4mm means a huge difference! It's so much easier to hit the string, and although the other specs like weight and diameter are unchanged, it plays like a completely different yo-yo.

Since the base profile was preserved, the new Shutter has a very familiar playfeel, making the Wide Angle feel more like a variation paying homage to the original rather than a completely different throw.

2019 World Champion Edition (From Gentry)
The Aqua Shutter Wide Angle was my choice of yoyo used to win the 2019 World Yoyo Contest. This specific Wide Angle is a touch heavier, with a bit of weight added to the rims for more power and stability. I used this version to win both the 2019 US National and World Yoyo Contest. The custom rim logo features two bold stars that represent 2 World Titles, along with four outlined stars representing 4 US National Titles. “Starboy”

Ever since the Shutter was launched in 2013 there have been small changes made to keep it both at the forefront of modern performance and in tune with the needs of current USA champion Gentry Stein. This year Gentry's Freestyle was a bit bigger and a bit bolder. Is this the future? Maybe. It's probably the biggest departure from the original so we have decided to offer it as a stand alone edition. This is not the NEW SHUTTER, it's just a bit different. Want to see it in action?

When designing my signature model yoyo Shutter, there was one major goal. To create the best performing, most well rounded yoyo that could handle any trick I throw at it. We were beyond successful with this design. We did it. We created THE most ideal yoyo.
Fast forward 4 years later, Shutter is still the most ideal yoyo. It is the go to yoyo for myself and thousands of players around the world.
A few months ago though, I had a thought. What about when I feel like something a little more extreme? What about when I want to push the boundaries a little more with my tricks and performances and try something unique? Well, there was only one answer. "Let's make something extreme! " let's take the most well rounded yoyo on the market and tweak it a little bit. The goal was not to create something better, but something that is simply different.
I present, Shutter Wide Angle.
Shutter Wide Angle is not a Shutter replacement, but rather an addition to the Shutter lineup. For those who want to get a little more... extreme!
