The Story
yoyorecreation - Dreadnought
Shinichiro Ohnishi’s signature model. Yoyorecreation’s unrivaled battleship, and a favorite of owner Kengo Kido. Dreadnought has landed.
Dreadnought is the signature model of 2008 West Japan Yo-Yo Contest Champion Shinichiro Ohnishi. Ohnishi’s preference for larger-than-usual yo-yos limited his options, but yoyorecreation heard his wishes and made them come true, in 7075 Aluminum. Every aspect of the yo-yo has been carefully designed to optimize performance. Almost too big for many player’s hands, this is the first full metal yo-yo of its size, hence the name. Within its first year of production, yoyorecreation’s Kengo Kido used Dreadnought at contests all over the world, generating rumours before it went on sale. It looks every bit as heavy as its 67.5 grams, but it is spread over a large body, making it surprisingly easy to control. With the widest gap in YYR’s lineup, there’s almost no trick you can’t land. Particularly tricks involving the whole body producing blind spots, such as Influent and Behind-the-back, are remarkably easier. Due to the larger diameter, the maker recommends using a slightly longer-than-normal string.
*Sometimes the sides of the yo-yo will be ever-so-slightly convex in the center, but since it is perfectly centered around the bearing, this will have no affect on how the yo-yo plays.
*Please take note that the black version has a blasted surface for a matte finish.
